Belated Mother's Day

Happy belated Mother's Day to all of the moms out there! I know it's two days late, but my Mother's Day was so special that I had to tell you guys about it. Sunday morning was spent with my family out at breakfast, and we had a great time. We enjoyed each other's company, ate some yummy food, and watched my nephew shake his butt like his bowl of jello, singing "shake your jello, shake, shake your jello! Shake your booty, shake, shake your booty!" He is definitely the cutest. He woke me up Sunday morning looking like this. You can see just how much fun he is!

Then I got to go to Lance's house to go see his family and Skype with him! Mother's Day is one of the two days out of the year that missionary's get to call home and talk to their families. And luckily, Lance's family was kind enough to welcome me in to go Skype with him. Missionaries are allowed to talk to their families for about an hour, but since Elder McLaren is such a fantastic missionary and the mission president loves him, (his words, not mine!) we got to talk to him for two hours! It was amazing to see his handsome face and hear his voice. He told us stories about his mission and about the very interesting people of Montana. It was such an amazing two hours and I couldn't be more blessed to have such an amazing missionary to love. I can't believe that was the last time I will hear his voice or see his face for seven months, but that means he's going to be home in seven months! It's a long time, but it's going to hopefully fly by!

(That's him! Look at how handsome he is!)

And then Monday morning he got a transfer call and he is headed to Thermopolis, Wyoming! He has been in Montana for the last year and five months, so I think he is eager for a change of scenery. I am so excited for him to start a new chapter in his mission and for him to change so many people's lives. He is such a strong and faithful man and I know that he is going to do amazing things in Wyoming. And those people don't know how lucky they are to have such a great man there, and how jealous I am!

I hope you all had a great Mother's Day and that you told your mom you love her!

My Love For a Fellow Blogger

This post is about someone that is so special to me and she is absolutely one of my best friends! Emily Patten over at Inhabit Your Moments is someone that is very near and dear to my heart.
She's just SOOOO gorgeous!!
Emily and I met our freshman year of college at the University of Arizona. We both lived in the Parker House dorm and we had a psychology and freshman success class together. We met and learned that we actually had A LOT in common! We both had boyfriends that were seniors in high school who played baseball, we were both education majors (until she switched to psychology), and we both went to school in Florence at some point. We would casually hang out and we would sit together in our classes, and slowly a great friendship began to form. When we were preparing to move out of our dorm, I didn't want our friendship to end, so I wanted to be sure we could hang out as much as possible. Luckily for us, I got her a job at the university department where I worked! So not only could we still take classes together, but we could also see each other at work as well!
Emily is someone that is so strong and just flat out amazing! She has a boyfriend who is away at the Air Force Academy for school and she has taught me so much about being strong in a long distance relationship. Most people try to tell you how rewarding long distance relationships are and how you just have to wait a little bit longer, but Emily is always there for me when I'm upset and knows exactly how I feel. It's great to have someone who knows what you're going through and can be a shoulder to cry on when you need it. She never fails to provide perfect advice when I'm having a moment of weakness or just need someone to vent to. We always have a great time together and she is undoubtedly someone that will be in my life forever. Emily, I love you and I am so thankful that you are my best friend!
Aren't we just the cutest?!

Blog Everyday in May

I am so in love with my new blog design! I have to give the biggest thanks to my amazing best friend Emily over at Inhabit Your Moments for helping me put it together. And check out her blog because she is absolutely fantastic and I know you'll love her blog!

Anywho. Emily introduced me to Story of My Life and she is doing a Blog Everyday in May challenge, so I thought I would start my blog out strong with some fun things to help you guys get to know me! While I probably won't do it everyday, I'll be sure to try to keep up as much as possible. Day 2 asked me to educate us on something you know a lot about or are good at. So here you go!

Something that I am extremely passionate about and have spent the last three years studying in school is Special Education. I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher, and went into college as an Elementary Education major but quickly changed it to Rehabilitation. After realizing that I would probably have to go to grad school after graduating, I changed my major one last time to Special Education and fell in love. I have spent endless hours in classes learning everything I need to know about working with individuals with special needs and have worked with some of the best professors in the field of Special Education. I have also observed a great amount in Special Education classrooms, interacting with students and knowing what will work in my future classroom and what will not. And lastly, I have the greatest job in the world working with high school students and adults with special needs at a summer and winter camp. I have had so many amazing experiences and have grown so much as a person and cannot wait to finally get to work as a teacher to some exceptional students. So that is something I know a heck of a lot about and love very much, and I'm glad I got to share it with you guys!
